Frequently Asked Questions About Donations
How do donations work?
When you list an item with eBay Giving Works, you'll tell us how much of the listing's final sale price you're committing to donate (10%-100%, or as low as 1% in the vehicles categories in eBay Motors). To learn more about the details of the donations process, check out About Seller Donations.
Is there a minimum donation amount?
If your item sells, we ask that you donate at least $1 or your calculated donation amount - whichever is greater.
How do I pay my donation?
For your convenience, MissionFish will automatically collect your donation on the fourth Monday after the close of your listing, using the default method of payment you have on file with eBay (remember-if you'd prefer a different method of payment, you can change it in the Personal Information/Financial Information in My eBay).

If a buyer doesn't pay, can I get my donation refunded?
If your buyer doesn't pay, but you've already paid your donation, MissionFish will refund it, and if you have not yet paid your donation, you can ask it to be forgiven. To request a refund or to have your donation forgiven, simply submit an Unpaid Item claim and be sure to check the box that says "I want to request a refund for my eBay Giving Works donation as well." Just remember you'll need to request your refund within 45 days of when your listing ended.

When will the nonprofit receive my donation?
MissionFish delivers donations to nonprofits on the 25th of each month. To comply with eBay's 45-day refund policy for Sellers, MissionFish holds the donation for at least one month before delivering it. They do this to give you peace of mind in the event that your transaction does not work out and you're unable to collect payment from the buyer. As you can imagine, it would be awkward to go back to a nonprofit that's already received your donation and ask for it back, so to avoid this, MissionFish waits for the refund period to expire before delivering the donation.
If you choose to waive your right for a refund, MissionFish can deliver the donation on an accelerated schedule.
How much of my donation will the nonprofit receive?
For successful Community Selling listings, MissionFish processes the donations to make sure that they reach the nonprofits safely and securely. Because the donation processing can be costly, MissionFish deducts a small amount out of each Community Selling donation to help offset these costs. To see how much the deduction is at each donation level, please see the Donation Deduction Table.
How do I get a tax receipt?
Sellers can get a tax receipt by going to their Donation Account in My eBay. Buyers don't get tax receipts, but if they purchase from a nonprofit, they can request one from that organization.
How do I look up my past donation activity?
Your Donation Account in My eBay is your one-stop shop for everything related to eBay Giving Works. View your donation activity by signing in to this section of My eBay.
Will the nonprofit get my contact information?
Nonprofits will know the names of the sellers they receive donations from, but they will not receive your contact information unless you opt in to let them see it. You can opt in by going into the Preferences section of My eBay. Look for "eBay Giving Works Communication Preferences" and check the box that allows nonprofits you support to view your contact information, in addition to your name.
