I know eBay, but what's eBay Giving Works?
eBay Giving Works is a special part of eBay's online marketplace, where anyone can make a positive impact in the world with the simple act of buying, selling, or donating to benefit a nonprofit organization. Sellers can donate anywhere from 10% to 100% (minimum $1) of an item's final sale price to their favorite nonprofit organization (1% minimum for most eBay Motors vehicle categories). Nonprofits themselves can sell their own items to raise funds for their missions. And of course buyers make it all possible! When you buy an item that's marked with a special charity ribbon 
, you put wonderful things into motion by making it possible for a nonprofit to get much-needed funding.
How do the nonprofits get the donations?
When it comes to donations, trust is key. Each donation is delivered to the intended nonprofit by our partner, MissionFish - itself a nonprofit that's dedicated to helping nonprofit organizations successfully raise funds online.
Do eBay Giving Works listings appear with other eBay listings?
Yes! And even better, every eBay Giving Works listing stands out from regular eBay listings with the special charity ribbon . This tells buyers that these listings are benefiting a good cause. Buyers have other ways of finding these listings: you can go directly to the eBay Giving Works hub page and search for items you're shopping for, or go to a specific organization's About My Nonprofit page to check out all of the listings benefiting that nonprofit.
How do nonprofits qualify for the program?
We welcome all qualifying organizations to join the program. All they need to do is complete a simple online webform on the website of our partner, MissionFish, and provide documents that help MissionFish verify their status as a nonprofit.
Can't find your favorite nonprofit in our directory? Invite the organization to join! It's free for them and takes very little time to get up and running.
Important note: MissionFish screens all nonprofits to make sure they are not involved in the promotion of terrorism, hate, racial intolerance, or illegal activities, before we allow them into the program.
Is eBay Giving Works available in other countries?
We're always looking into further expansion, but for now the program is available only in the US and the UK (where it is known as eBay for Charity). Sellers anywhere in the world can list with eBay Giving Works to benefit a US nonprofit (or eBay for Charity to benefit a UK nonprofit).
What is MissionFish?
MissionFish is the independent nonprofit we've selected to do the behind-the-scenes work of administering eBay Giving Works. MissionFish, itself a nonprofit organization, powers the technology behind eBay Giving Works, certifies all nonprofits that use the program, collects donations from sellers and distributes them to nonprofits, and provides training and customer support for nonprofits, among its responsibilities.
