Trading Assistants
A Trading Assistant — or "TA" for short — is an experienced eBay seller whose business it is to sell for others on eBay. TAs can be a valuable resource when your organization might be a little short-handed. Some have a physical drop-off location where you can take the items you'd like to have listed — some can even pick up the items from you. Costs and services vary by TA, so it's best to meet with a few to talk to them about your needs and ask them their experience in particular categories and in listing items for charity. To search for a TA in your area, go to http://www.ebay.com/ta.
Auction management agencies
Have a high-ticket item that's been donated to you? Perhaps you may even have a celebrity supporter who's graciously donated a personal item or a once-in-a-lifetime experience? You have something special on your hands — be sure you make the most of this opportunity. Auction management agencies can provide valuable services that include creating and managing the listing, working with you on pricing, marketing, and promotion, and making sure that these listings are consistent with your branding and your overall fundraising goals.
As with TAs, the costs for auction management agencies vary by agency and the project's scope. For more information on auction management agencies and high-profile listings (celebrity and event experience and luxury travel), send an email to ebaygivingworks@ebay.com.
Volunteers
Nonprofit organizations have many loyal supporters who are passionate about the cause and want to help the organization fulfill its mission. So why not turn to them and recruit their volunteer efforts in listing items for you? Ask them about their eBay experience. You might be surprised to learn how many of them are eBay experts and could help get your organization well on the way to successful sales.
If a nonprofit decides to outsource its listing management, it will need to add the auction management agency, Trading Assistant, or volunteer seller as an additional Direct Seller in its MissionFish account. This signals our system that it's a Nonprofit Direct Selling listing, where the entire final sale price goes directly to the nonprofit, and the Insertion and Final Value fees are automatically waived. Sign in to your MissionFish account to add a Nonprofit Direct Seller.
